The San Francisco Board of Supervisors, against widespread community and preservationist opposition, recently authorized demolition of one of the finest examples of landscape architecture in America.

In the 1940s, renowned landscape architect Thomas Church (1902-1978) designed the 1500 Parkmerced garden apartments that the Supervisors have slated for demolition. Parkmerced stands today as one of the finest examples of community living in a near bucolic setting anywhere in San Francisco.

A producer has stepped forward to make a documentary, tentatively titled “The Future of Parkmerced,” about this highly unique development and its park-like setting.

Presently, he is soliciting memorabilia, photographs, and personal interviews, especially of Parkmerced residents.
